Shop Local Nanaimo is an initiative by the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce to showcase locally owned and operated businesses in the Nanaimo district.

With the resort’s large infrastructure, various departments and many services we had a unique challenge in making sure all the departments goals, needs and services are communicated well, while creating a website that is easy to navigate, mobile responsive and optimized for SEO.

We created The Shop Local Nanaimo initiative consists of a fully responsive website with a searchable online directory of locally owned businesses, an online local business registration form and an email subscription and special offer newsletter to keep local shoppers connected to deals and promotions from local businesses.

The result is the Shop Local Nanaimo initiative that consists of a fully responsive website with a searchable online directory of locally owned businesses, an online local business registration form and an email subscription and special offer newsletter to keep local shoppers connected to deals and promotions from local businesses.

We created a completely custom built local online business directory database, including a custom build easy-to-use database management system and user interface.

For this project it was important to categorize the businesses in custom categories and to feature a new local business on the homepage every week. We automized this process for the chamber team so that they just have to tag and schedule a specific business in the directory for it to show up on the homepage as scheduled.
